Hello everyone! As most of you all know, Neil and I recently relocated to Budapest, Hungary for his new job opportunity. So I am officially an American expat, all the way from Sarasota, Florida. I have started this blog to begin to share our journey in Budapest, Hungary as a newly married couple and as expats in this beautiful European city.
For those of you who know me well, this is a big leap of faith for me. I have grown up in Sarasota, Florida since I was eight years old. I left for four years of college then my first five years of professional work. However, I have been living back in Sarasota since and really had no intent to leave. It’s a bubble, it’s comfortable. It’s familiar. I know where to grocery shop, good spots for dining out, jobs are plentiful, climate is nice and our dog Lily loves chasing her lizards in the warm Florida climate. My mom lives there along with my brother, sister in law and niece. My two aunts are there too as well as many friends. Sarasota is “home” to me and has been my world for years.
Well fast forward and here we are, taking a major leap of faith in a big city, where things are busy, unfamiliar and everything is new to us. So far, so good though. We are loving it and enjoying this journey called “life”, one day at a time.
